running, #teamgolf style

another year, another ioa corporate 5k! this is seriously one of the most fun nights, with the most incredible team – team golf. i mean, i am probably a little biased but i just love being able to hang out with fellow co-workers outside of the office. and honestly, you still meet so many new people at this event, even within your own company! whether it’s a new team member’s first corporate 5k, or you going on your fifth year, it’s amazing to see how many people come out for this event.

now this was my third year participating in the ioa corporate 5k, and again it didn’t disappoint. coined as “a big race with a big heart,” the overall goal was to provide 100,000 meals through the second harvest food bank/christian service center love pantry. so not only is it a fun event to participate in, but i love that we are also helping such a bigger cause. and with over 15,000 runners/walkers in attendance, there is so much support for the cause and one another. again, just another reason that this orlando running community is so special.

so the results…33:30?! i was so excited to be able to run with a fellow co-worker and really just enjoy this race. sometimes i tend to forget to stop and smell the roses and really take in my surroundings, so i wanted to make sure that i did that during this race. and it was seriously so much fun! everyone on our team did incredible, even earning second place in the coed division – got to love the speedy runners on our team!

and honestly, this was a great training run leading into my next race, the star wars half marathon – the dark side. it’s only about a week away, which i still can’t believe. but let me tell you, i am getting so pumped to earn my millennium falcon medal and bonus, there are a ton of fellow team golf members running as well. as you can see, we are definitely an active bunch!

but post-star wars is when my training ramps up for the chicago marathon. i am still pinching myself that i am running a marathon this year, and for a cause near and dear to my heart – team bright pink! stay tuned for some more running recaps and training updates!

until next time
