holy smokes, i can’t believe orlando’s hometown half marathon is only a week away! this race has definitely snuck up on me, but alas it is almost here. thankfully yesterday, i was able to get in a good 5 mile run to get prepared…and trust me, after the holiday i was extremely impressed that even after waking up late i was able to motivate myself to log those much needed miles. sometimes you just have to push through those mental blocks and get out on the road. and am i glad that i did…i even got to enjoy running through a little different scenery than usual, which is always fun!
now yesterday’s run by far wasn’t my quickest, averaging 11:09 minutes per mile, but honestly my goal for this upcoming race is to just get in a nice long run throughout the city of orlando. with it being my 5th half marathon of the year, and after being sick recently, i just want to enjoy this race – especially because it’s my first time running the ouc half marathon too! and the fact that it’s “orlando’s hometown race,” you can’t ask for anything better for my last half of the year. i love being able to support and run in my city!
but only a few more training runs to get in before next weekend, and a couple weeks until i find out if i got into the 2018 chicago marathon. definitely anxiously awaiting to find out?!
until next time
xoxo
