at last, the final stop on our journey through australia. i can’t believe that our first shipment is complete – it just makes me that much more excited to receive our next one. luckily, i just got a notification saying that it was on the way. so what was the final wine selection? the ochota barrels “texture like sun” sector red. known to be an easy drinking wine, we decided to pair this wine up with a delicious steak and potatoes meal. i mean you seriously cannot go wrong pairing up a nice home-grilled ny strip steak with a red wine. and we were not disappointed.
now i did a little more research on where this wine came from – as quite honestly, i was intrigued by the label. come to find out, their tale began on a surf trip along the mexican west coast. after visiting some of the amazing wine and surf regions, the duo (taras and amber ochata) decided to start making wine back in south australia. crazy, right?! i think my favorite part is why the name ochota barrels? well, as you can see – ochota is their last name, but it actually translates into “desire” or “to hunt.” then their love to surf is tied into the later part of the name “barrels.” such a cool story behind the label.
