well the track shack running series officially got kicked off this weekend with the celebration of running 5k presented by florida hospital. this was my first race since the castaway cay 5k during our fabulous cruise vacation, and really my first 5k that i’ve ran since then as well. needless to say, i need to get training back in gear for disney’s wine & dine half marathon. it’s a lot closer than we all think. and this was the perfect way to kick off that now “accelerated” training.
and saturday was a beautiful morning to run (hot, but overall clear skies). with the start located at orlando cultural park, we ended up running past lake formosa down to track shack and back. a good loop to cover those 3.1 miles. but the best part…all of the people on the course to cheer us on. from policemen to friendly folks outside of their houses, there was always someone there cheering for all of us. i know that is definitely what keeps me going since i don’t run with music. and track shack always does such a great job with course entertainment, in addition to the wonderful vendors they bring in for the race. and the results: averaged about a 10:20 pace – not too shabby for only running a couple times before this race. but now the training is on…thankfully i’m a track shack fanatic so i have plenty more races to look forward to. and be sure to check back for more running trails and training updates as keith and i continue on this journey to disney’s wine & dine half marathon.
until next time
xoxo
