wow, what a whirlwind the past few weeks have been. and after a week of fun, we are back from our home away from home, new york city. this place seriously never gets old to us – always finding something new to do, while also experiencing some of our favorites! and this trip, we were able to spend more time in the city – vacationing for a week instead of our typical weekend.
and bonus, it was the first time that we got to experience the city together during the holidays. there is something so magical about nyc during the holidays. between the trees, the cold, the beautiful window displays…it just doesn’t get much better!
not only did we get to experience the city during the holidays, but we also had the trip of a lifetime. starting with seeing a show that we have wanted to see for about 3 years, hamilton! let me tell you, this show was absolutely incredible and even better than we could’ve imagined. we’ve been singing the songs for years now, that it was amazing to see how it all came together in the show – and seeing how they interpreted everything word by word. seriously, the best show that i have ever seen! and on top of that, we also got to see the show, wicked – which was also fantastic. so on the broadway show front, check!
we also got to experience a couple of new things on this trip, starting with a visit to the new york philharmonic – which is actually an elevated rewards partner for hilton grand vacations members! and oh my goodness, what an lovely evening. the music was exquisite and these musicians were so incredibly talented. the evening we attended, they were featuring mozart’s symphony no. 40. i am always immediately drawn to the strings – the violin and the cello – and this concert was no different. i am still just in awe by how amazing each individual sounded, and then on top of that how everything came together for each and every piece of music.
we also got to FINALLY go to an event at verve wine. if you’ve read some of my previous posts, you know that this is one of our favorite spots in nyc – and truly a gem of a wine store. and ever since we’ve been visiting, we’ve always wanted to attend an event at the store. finally stars aligned, and we were able to go to their “grand tour” monthly wine club tasting! lucky for us, since we are grand tour members, we were able to get a sneak peek at what would be shipped to our house a few days later. and holy smokes, the wines this month are delicious!
and those were just some of the highlights from the trip. but i must say nothing else tops this trip other than…getting engaged! even a week later, i still can’t believe that my boyfriend proposed – and it was the most perfect proposal. more to come on that later!
