if you are looking for a great wine bar in orlando, check out one of the city’s newest locations somm – orlando. owned by the same owners as slate – orlando (which we all know i absolutely love), this wine bar carries some impeccable wines. in addition to their wonderful wine list, somm has an incredibly relaxing vibe. perfect for a quick drink after work, which is exactly what i did last night with some of my co-workers. it really allowed us to unwind from the day, while still discussing some of the high points of work.
we each decided on a nice flight of wine – only $12 and you get to select 3 wines of your choice (2 oz. pours).
our selection of wines for the evening
pinot noir: bouchard pere & fils, borgogne rouge, burgundy, france
pinot noir: soter, “planet oregon”, williamette valley
granache-syrah-mourvedre: domaine de la janasse, cotes de rhone
barbera: vietti, barbera d’asti “tre vigne”
garnacha: black slate, ‘scala dei’, catalunya, spain
nicely paired with a delightful charcuterie board
in addition to the flights, i also decided to purchase a glass of wine from their reserve list – a 2008 ségla margaux: cabernet sauvignon-merlot. full bodied with light tannins, this wine is definitely best enjoyed over the course of time to really enhance all of those fragrant flavors.
